Niflheim

The oldest of all worlds — a realm of ice, mist, and bitter cold in the north. The river Élivágar flows from here. Deep within lies Hvergelmir, the spring that is the source of all rivers. In the primordial age, the cold of Niflheim met the fire of Muspelheim across the void of Ginnungagap, and from this meeting Ymir was born. Below Niflheim lies Niflhel, the deepest realm of the dead.
