Víðarr
Víðarr (Old Norse: Víðarr) is the son of Odin and the giantess Gríðr. He is renowned for his silence and is nearly as strong as Thor. Víðarr is destined to avenge his father: at Ragnarök, when Fenrir swallows Odin, Víðarr kills the wolf by placing his thick-soled boot on the wolf's lower jaw and tearing apart its jaws — or, in some accounts, driving a sword through its palate. Víðarr survives Ragnarök and is among the gods who inherit the new world. His silent, enduring nature makes him a symbol of survival and renewal.
