Surtr

Surtr (Old Norse: Surtr, "the black one") is the leader of the fire giants from Muspelheim. He is described as a vast, dark figure wielding a flaming sword brighter than the sun. Surtr is one of the most primordial beings in Norse cosmology — he existed from the very beginning of the world. At Ragnarök, Surtr leads his fire giants across the Bifrost, which collapses under their weight. He slays Freyr in combat. Finally, Surtr hurls fire across the entire world, causing it to sink into the sea — only to rise again, green and renewed, in the new age.
