Hermóðr
Hermóðr (Old Norse: Hermóðr) is the son of Odin and serves as the gods' messenger. His defining mythic act is the journey to Helheim after Baldur's death. He rode Sleipnir for nine days and nights through dark valleys down to Helheim, crossed the bridge Gjallarbú, and rode through Hel's gates. Hel promised to release Baldur if all things in the world wept for him. Hermóðr brought gifts back from Baldur and Nanna to the gods, including Odin's ring Draupnir.
