God of fertility and sunshine — gave away his self-fighting sword for love of the giantess Gerðr.

Names & Heiti

Ingvi Ingwaz Freyr
Freyr (Old Norse: Freyr) is the son of Njord and one of the mightiest gods. He is the deity of sunshine, rain, fertility, prosperity, and peace. He dwells in Alfheim, which he received as a tooth-gift. Freyr owns the magical ship Skiðblaðnir, which always has favorable winds and can be folded up like cloth. He fell deeply in love with the giantess Gerðr and gave away his self-fighting sword — a weapon that fought giants by itself — to his servant Skírnir as payment for wooing her on his behalf. At Ragnarök, Freyr fights the fire giant Surtr without his sword and falls.
  • Ragnarök

The doom of the gods — the great battle between divine and dark forces that cleanses the world for a new beginning.
